A less taxing way to top up with Monese

Not content with making it easier for you to pay retailers with the recent introduction of Google Pay to the Monese app (as well as Apple Pay - coming soon), we’ve now got our sights set on making it even easier for you to pay into your own account as well.

While we’ve always tried to make it as simple as possible to transfer your own funds using both bank transfers and cash deposit, we’re confident that our new Instant Top-ups will be even easier to use. This feature also promises to be much faster - and faster still, once you’ve set up and stored your card (up to three in total) allowing you to top-up with barely a few taps.

This should also be great news for people newly resident in the UK who will be able to get funds into their Monese account using a debit card payment from their own country.

Using an EEA Consumer Debit Card incurs a small fee of 0.35% (as opposed to topping up via cash deposit which incurs a 2.5% charge). Other international Consumer Debit Cards are also accepted (and will incur a 2.5% fee).

We anticipate our in-app top-ups feature to broaden its scope in the future to include other methods of top-up such as WeChat, Paypal and Giropay as well as Google Pay, Apple Pay and Credit Cards.
