Add cash to your account with Paysafecash
Count on easy, quick and secure cash top-ups across Europe
By Melissa on July 13, 2020
While cash may not be the most popular payment method to use right now due to the pandemic, the reality is that it still plays a big part in many people’s lives. Customers in the UK, for example, can easily top up with cash at any Post Office branch or high street shop, corner-store or off-license with the PayPoint logo. Now, we’re excited to be expanding our cash top-up feature, starting with customers in France.
We’re partnering with Paysafecash, so you can conveniently add money to your Monese account with cash at payment points all throughout your country.
We started with France, but we’ve already turned it on for more countries!
29 July update: You can now top up your account with cash if you live in Spain, Portugal and Belgium.
17 August update: You can top up your account with cash if you live in the Netherlands.
1 September update: You can top up your account with cash if you live in Austria or Luxembourg.
14 September update: You can top up your account with cash if you live in Poland or Bulgaria.
12 November update: You can top up your account with cash if you live in Romania.
1 June update: You can top up your account with cash if you live in Greece and Ireland.

How it works
Adding money to your Monese account with Paysafecash is easy, simple and secure. Here’s how to do it:
Step 1: Open your app, tap ‘Add money’ and find the Paysafecash option.
Step 2: Once you’ve selected this, choose the amount you want to add (if it’s your first time topping up this way, we’ll ask you to set up your Paysafecash profile — you’ll only need to do this once).
Step 3: A barcode will be created, which you can download to your phone and show at any participating Paysafecash location. The available sites will show up on your screen so you can find the one closest to you.
Step 4: Once at your chosen location, hand your barcode to the cashier to scan and pay them the amount you’d like to deposit. They’ll give you a receipt.
That’s it! Your money should be in your account within the hour.
Things to remember
When using Paysafecash, here are some important things to keep in mind:
- The generated barcode has an availability of 2 hours, after which it expires.
- If the barcode has expired and becomes invalid, you’ll need to create a new barcode via your Monese app.
- Depending on your Monese plan, fees may apply: if you’re on Simple, 2.5% of the top-up amount (minimum €2) will apply. If you’re on Classic, you’ll pay no fees within the limits of your allowance. Once you go over your limit, a fee of 2% of the top-up amount (minimum €2) will apply. And if you’re on Premium, you pay no fees! We recommend looking at your plan allowances (under ‘My Plans’ in the app) for details. Fees are only charged once the top-up is complete and the money has landed in your account.
- If your money isn’t in your account within six hours, contact Paysafecash customer care using the information presented in your receipt.
We’re really excited to bring you access to these types of cash services. While we look for ways to expand and improve on this new feature, we’d love to hear your thoughts on how Monese is working for you. What new features would you like to see in the future? If anything comes to mind, get in touch on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or drop us an email at community@monese.com.
