Monese 'Invite & Earn' Referral Program - Terms and Conditions

1. Who is eligible to participate?

To be eligible to earn a Referral Bonus under the “Invite & Earn” referral programme, the person you refer to Monese (the “Referred Customer”) must be a different individual who is at least 18 years of age and who resides in a country where Monese offers its services.

Referred Customers will be given their own referral code or referral link as soon as they have full access to their Monese account, meaning that a Referred Customer who joins Monese after receiving a referral code or referral link can then start to earn bonuses themselves by referring their own friends, family or colleagues.

2. What bonuses are available?

Subject to the above eligibility criteria, you can earn up to two referral bonuses for each Referred Customer you refer to Monese (up to a maximum of 15 referred customers).

3. What do you have to do?

To earn a “stage 1 referral bonus”:

– You must share your unique referral code or referral link as provided on the Monese web app or mobile app with someone you know – for instance, a friend, family member or work colleague;

– The Referred Customer you share your unique referral code or referral link with must open a Monese account through the Monese app or website by clicking on the Referral Link or by using the Referral Code when signing up;

– The Referred Customer you share your code or link with must receive and activate their Monese Mastercard, then use their Monese Mastercard card or their virtual card for a single transaction (see below under “which transactions qualify to meet the stage 1 bonus criteria?”) of any amount.

To earn a “stage 2 referral bonus”:

A Referred Customer you sent your referral code to and who followed the above steps must then use their Monese account to spend a minimum total amount with Monese (see below under “Which transactions qualify to meet the stage 2 bonus criteria?”).

4. Which transactions qualify to meet the stage 1 bonus criteria?

There is no minimum value for a qualifying transaction to meet the criteria for the “stage 1 bonus”, but transactions towards other financial services products (such as paying off credit card bills) are excluded.

5. Which transactions qualify to meet the stage 2 bonus criteria?

To meet the stage 2 bonus criteria, the Referred Customer you sent your referral code to must first have met the criteria for the stage 1 bonus and must then use their Monese account to spend a minimum total amount with Monese. The amount required to meet the stage 2 bonus criteria at any time will be shown in the Monese app and on the Monese website.

Transactions that count towards the total minimum spend include purchases made on the Monese Mastercard (except as payment for other financial services products including Paypal transactions ), international transfers to non-Monese accounts in any available currency except GBP, EUR or RON.

6. Payment of bonuses

Bonuses will be paid out once per stage per Referred Customer, once the relevant criteria are met as described above.

Under both the stage 1 and stage 2 bonus, any transactions that count towards meeting the criteria will need to “settle” before a bonus payment will be triggered; this can take up to 72 hours after the transaction is initiated.

Once the criteria have been met for the stage 1 or stage 2 bonus (including settling of any transactions) by a Referred Customer, the relevant referral bonus will be paid directly into your Monese account.

The exact value of bonuses may vary from time to time and the current amounts will be shown in your Monese app. The amount applicable will always be the amount as at the date on which the Referred Customer makes a qualifying transaction under stage 1 or reaches the qualifying spend level under stage 2.

7. Exclusions and limitations

Referral codes cannot be used for any kind of commercial activity or in connection with any paid promotions. This includes online advertising; mass emailing, texting or messaging people you do not know or using automated systems or bots through any channel to distribute your referral link. Monese reserves the right to withhold bonuses if we identify any such activity.

Each Monese customer can refer a maximum of 15 Referred Customers, meaning they can earn a total of up to 30 bonuses (15 stage 1 bonuses and 15 stage 2 bonuses). After 15 stage 1 and stage 2 bonuses have been received by the referrer, referrers can still refer friends, but no bonuses will be awarded.

If the Referred Customer does not complete the actions needed to qualify for the bonus, this still uses one of the 15 allocated bonus referrals per Monese customer, whether the reward was granted or not.

A Referred Customer who receives a referral code or link cannot combine that code or link with other codes or links from different customers when opening their Monese account.

Once a Referred Customer opens an account using a referral code or link, they will have one year in which to meet the eligibility criteria for stage 1 and stage 2. Any accounts which have not met the criteria by the first anniversary after account opening will cease to be eligible to earn bonuses for the person whose referral link or code was used when opening the account.

8. Miscellaneous

Monese can suspend, terminate or change the terms and requirements of the “Invite and Earn” promotion at any time and without notice. This includes, but is not limited to:

– Changing the eligibility criteria for either an existing or Referred Customer;

– Changing the definition of a qualifying transaction for the purposes of a stage 1 bonus and/or the total spend requirement for a stage 2 bonus;

– Changing the amount of any bonuses payable under stage 1 and/or stage 2.

The current terms and conditions will always be displayed within the Monese app or on the Monese website.

The availability of the “Invite & Earn” referral programme is at Monese’s absolute discretion. Monese is entitled to refuse to allow you and/or a Referred Customer to participate in the “Invite & Earn” referral programme without giving reasons and shall incur no liability to you or any other person for any such refusal.

Monese reserves the right to suspend accounts, withhold or reverse any bonuses due or already paid if we notice any activity that we believe is abusive, fraudulent, or in violation of the Monese Terms & Conditions or these Terms & Conditions. Monese reserves the right to review and investigate all referral activities and to suspend accounts or modify referrals in our sole discretion as deemed fair and appropriate.

Notwithstanding any other provision in these Terms & Conditions, Monese shall be entitled but not obliged, in its absolute discretion, to permit individual Monese Customers to refer a higher maximum number of Referred Customers and/or to increase the level of bonus payable above the level shown in your Monese app for a defined period. In such a case, all other provisions of these Terms & Conditions will continue to apply.
