At Monese, we’re always working to make it easier to manage your money, no matter where you are. We recently launched European account numbers, and we promised to follow up with updates for our customers in France. Today we’re excited to announce we’ve started the roll-out of French account numbers (IBANs) for customers based in France using Monese EUR accounts!
Your French account number
Our French account numbers come packed with features that let you spend, send and save like a true local:
Direct Debits You can now set up Direct Debits from your EUR account – you’ll be able to pay your bills in France and across Europe by setting up SEPA Direct Debits. Direct Debits give you peace of mind that your bills are being paid automatically, so you never miss a payment.
Cash top-ups You can also now top up your Monese account with cash! We’ve partnered with Paysafecash so you can add cash to your Monese account from nearly 12,000 payment points throughout the country.
Receive your salary Receiving your salary in your Monese account has never been easier. Even though you should already be able to use your existing account number for this, we’ve heard from some of you that a French account number is preferred by your employers. All you need to do is give them your new account number – it can easily be shared with anyone, by tapping on ‘Share’ from the ‘Accounts details’ page.
Link your PayPal account You can also link your Monese account to PayPal to easily view your PayPal transactions right in your Monese app, and quickly add your Monese card to your PayPal digital wallet for extra security while you’re shopping online (without having to enter your card details).
How to get started
Before we get you set up with a French account number, we’ll need you to upload a second ID document – this is to make sure we comply with local regulations. It’s important to note that there won’t be any changes to how your Monese account and card works – and you’ll still be able use your original GB account number to receive payments.
If you’re just joining Monese now, you’ll be able to get a French account number right away.
If you've already got a Monese account, we’ll have your French account number available over the course of the next few weeks. We've already started the roll-out process, so make sure to keep an eye on your app and on your email inbox for next steps.
Your EUR account will start with the letters ‘FR’. You’ll find your French account number, BIC code and RIB key in your Monese EUR account under ‘Account details’ (you can find it just below your balance) on your app’s home screen. You can also find it in the ‘Account’ menu at the top left corner.
And remember that to upgrade, you’ll need to have the latest version of our app.
